STATEMENT FROM THE LONDON PODIATRY CENTRE
At the London Podiatry Centre, we always put the health and safety of our patients first. The coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic has put the practice in a unique situation and this communication is to let you how we will be ensuring a safe clinical safe clinical environment.
During lockdown, Ron McCulloch, the Clinic Director and Podiatric Surgeon, has been seeing urgent and emergency cases. We have also launched online consultations and reviews, which enables us to offer help and advice on a number of different conditions. We will be continuing this service when normal business resumes.
Prior to the lockdown, we already had excellent clinical standards in place, so we didn’t have to change much in order to meet the strict hygiene standards necessary to minimise the risk of contagion from Covid-19. However, we have bought in a few measures which are recommendations as per national and government guidelines.
When we open, we will be spacing out our appointment times to enable social distancing within the practice. Our waiting area is compact; therefore, we intend to use it as little as possible when distancing measures are in place. Please attend your appointments unaccompanied if possible and on time. Having more time between appointments also gives us the opportunity to deep clean all areas of the clinic between patients.
Prior to arrival, we will ask you some screening questions and we request that you fill out your GDPR form prior to your visit and submit this electronically rather than on paper. When you arrive for your appointment, we will take your temperature. If it is raised, you will be asked to rebook your appointment. You will be asked to wash your hands and wear a mask / face covering and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) if deemed appropriate. We have sterilising hand gel available in every room in the clinic which our receptionists will actively encourage patients to use upon entrance and exit to the clinic. We will clean the payment machine and any other item with which we share contact with you with high strength antibacterial wipes between each patient use. We are encouraging use of card payments where possible but will still accept cash.
While the pandemic continues, you will see our receptionists wearing masks, face shields and gloves and we have a “sneeze screen” in use in reception. Also, our podiatrists will be in full PPE in accordance with Public Health England and professional body guidelines.
To ensure safe social distancing, we are making efforts to keep patient to patient contact to a minimum by bringing patients into the clinic rooms with minimal, if any, waiting in reception. The additional time between patients will allow us to control patient movement through reception after your appointment.
We will continue to work hard to keep you safe, whilst maintaining the high-quality podiatric service you expect from the London Podiatry Centre. We thank you for your cooperation in keeping both our team and all our patients safe at this difficult time.
